A panel of the Commission on Appointments (CA) on Tuesday endorsed the confirmation of the ad interim appointment of Hans Leo Cacdac as secretary of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW). CA Majority Floor Leader Rep. Luis Raymund Villafuerte Jr. moved to recommend to the plenary the ad interim appointment of Cacdac as DMW chief which was seconded by Senator Risa Hontiveros.  Committee on Labor, Employment, Social Welfare, and Migrant Workers chairperson Rep. Mercedes Alvarez approved the motion. Cacdac is scheduled to face the CA plenary deliberations within the day for the official confirmation of his ad interim appointment.

Sec. Cacdac is a staunch advocate for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and has dedicated nearly his entire career to technical and leadership roles in labor and migration governance. His expertise spans across political lines, having been appointed by three different presidents.
